One of Qazizada Multicultural Therapy Clinic's initiative in the year of 2024 has consisted of establishing a Cricket team for Afghan Refugees and Immigrants. Cricket is one of Afghanistan's national sports and that is deeply rooted in the Culture. Engaging in physical activities, such as being part of a cricket team, can have a profound impact on the mental health and well-being of refugees. For individuals who have experienced trauma, displacement, or loss, physical exercise provides an effective outlet for stress and anxiety, helping to restore a sense of normalcy and control. Cricket, in particular, offers an opportunity to connect with others in a supportive and inclusive environment, fostering a sense of community and belonging. The physical benefits of exercise such as improved fitness, better sleep, and increased energy directly contribute to mental well-being by reducing symptoms of depression and promoting positive emotions. Moreover, the teamwork and collaboration involved in cricket can help refugees build new social networks, reduce feelings of isolation, and improve their self-esteem, all of which are vital to overcoming the emotional challenges of displacement. Through physical activity, refugees can rebuild their mental resilience, regain confidence, and develop a stronger sense of hope for the future.
